I founded Up Front Brewing in 2015 with the aim of sharing my love of exceptional beers and great artwork with a wider audience.

I take great pride in having no loans, no investors, and no kickstarter funding - everything is paid for up front (for now at least!). Being a one-man band means that I have very little in the way of overheads, which allows me to spend a considerable amount of time and effort on researching and experimenting with new yeast, bacteria, ingredients, and brewing techniques from around the world.

After many years of nomadic brewing, in late 2023 I brought all my brewing in house, as well as starting to brew test batches of mead for an offshoot project called Up Front Meadery. In 2024 I acquired my own brew kit, and a small canning line, and in early 2025 reloacted the brewery to the picturesque and decidely bucolic farming town of Strathaven, a short 25 minutes drive south of Glasgow. As of early 2025, I managed to get everything installed and fully operational. There’s a lot of interesting plans for the new unit, for both Up Front Brewing, and Up Front Meadery, including hopefully one day soon mny own tap room, where I can share my love of great beer and mead with the public, in a more intimate setting.
